Happy for shin after the shit he had to go through last year

Think this is the right take. While there’s some overlap in what you learn as a high-level player that would help your casting, the casters study the game differently than a player, coach, or analyst. It’s almost a mix of the three.

Could be wrong, but I thought Balla was the only high ranked one & the rest are in the slums of plat/dia.

Time to be a G2 I guess

Welcome G2 mCe 🙏🏻

I thought they said the opposite and that they’re done with Val. I only read a Dexerto article about it so I could be wrong

posted about a year ago

I’d actually be so down for FlyQuest. Clean logo, and from what I know, they’re a solid and dependable brand/company

posted about a year ago

Yea I think it’s a lot closer than most think. It’s like a question of “is having the best team plus some mid teams better or worse than having a few solid teams?” And with how close especially some of these recent games have been, there’s a strong case for both sides

posted about a year ago

Actually a pretty good point. I’d have to dive deeper into placements and stuff to present a counter argument but I aint trying to do that on my phone at work lol. All I’ll say is that something to consider is that you have more teams competing, so it can make a direct comparison between two similarly seeded teams a bit fuzzy since EMEA has more chances to do better than their given seed

posted about a year ago

Nah it was just an algorithmic way to compare the holistic strength of one region to another. Wasn’t trying to cherry pick. If you have a better method, I’m all ears.

Edit: also wasn’t discarding those results but setting them aside. I agree that Fnatic is better than EG on paper, but there’s more to a region than just the best team

posted about a year ago

That’s also what I assumed to be fair

posted about a year ago

Best team =/= best region imo, though it certainly contributes a great deal. I think a better comparison of regional strength is to take away the best team in both regions and see how they compare. Then do that with second best, etc. Feel like doing it that way (for specifically Americas VS EMEA) makes Americas come out on top more often

posted about a year ago

Yea I think that’s the correct take, but the question is if that’s even worth it. He’s carving into a specific niche you’d have to build a team around, & I don’t really think the downside of having to build around that niche is worth for what he brings to the table

posted about a year ago

The problem is the same as Phoenix, where the kit is fundamentally bad. No number changing will fix it

posted about a year ago

Good aim does not mean that person should be a duelist. All players should have good aim; a lack thereof has to be made up for with something else (eg an IGL's aim suffering because they are paying attention to the broader game rather than on what's in front if them)

The visa thing is crazy to me. It’s literally your job to play this game well so that you can fly out to international events to play on LAN. Why the hell aren’t players immediately applying for a visa as soon as they get signed??

posted about a year ago

It making sense means it's not gonna happen lmaooo

MAD and DSG didn’t qualify for next year’s League, and if Guard/M80 ascend, that’ll be a total of 3 spots to hop into the League from Open Quals. I assume Riot will just throw in a 4th spot to qualify from the Open Quals

posted about a year ago

Yea there’s just way too much going on with it. A logo should be memorizable within a few seconds of looking at it. After watch a game, I can’t even recall what the “fus” mirrored letters look like

Last ep and that tweet was on a Tuesday, so I guess it’s Tuesdays

Yea I actually agree on Paperthin. Definitely called me out on forgetting him

Nahhh, Guard are gonna do their classic move of losing WF to win the rematch in Grands

posted about a year ago

I feel like we lack a lot of solid casters in the first place. Pansy/Hypoc are amazing, Bren/Sideshow are great, Doug/Balla do the job well enough. Everyone else I find myself tuning out. Granted, I only know NA casters and those at international events, but still. Definitely a field Riot’s still working on

As a Guard fan, they are not

OOTL, what’d they do?

Nahh, Union is definitely the Loud of T2. Loud did the same thing as them where they absolutely stomped everyone in their region and then performed well on the global stage. Union isn’t stomping their region as hard as Loud did, dropping more maps than Loud did, but they definitely aren’t a Bronzil team. Pred alert: their match against Guard in WF will tell where they truly stand

posted about a year ago

Ahh yes, because 100T being in franchising is definitely based on the team’s skill

posted about a year ago

Vanity: subpar calling, subpar shooting, doesn’t run it down

Boostio: calling and ult coordination literally wins them maps, can actually shoot, loves to run it down (see Lotus WF against Fnatic)

Definitely Boostio. Throws rounds by inting but will also randomly pick up 3 for no good reason, so it balances out. That leaves just who calls better, which is easily Boostio based on their recent performance on LAN. Even Vanity peak vs current Boostio I’d still give to Boostio, but Potter’s 5Head plays a role in that

I’d like to at least throw JonahP in. Though he mainly plays flash initiators, he has a decently diverse roster to pull from as he has in the past. Fill players are usually slept in, so the fact that he has good util and on occasion has his moments shows that he’s an above average fill player.

I also understand that currently Trent does more filling than JonahP, but Trent’s just kinda the goat of the squad anyway so filling doesn’t seem to hurt his performance all that much.

Edit: who pivots to Sentinel for that roster?

🥶 did my mans dirty

posted about a year ago

Honestly? Poor mCe. Man’s got jailed by getting thrown into whatever crap he got thrown into. With how well he coached Guard, I highly doubt any of this was his idea. Bet he really wishes he was back with them

posted about a year ago

Interesting he went on as a 6th man here when NRG dropped their 6th (and will need one). Would feel like NRG would have reached out to him and he'd want to go there to be with his boys

posted about a year ago

100% agree, which is hard to put together what with the cream of the crop already in franchised teams.

posted about 2 years ago

That rumored XSET roster seems kinda decent actually. Good mix of solid players and upcoming talent.

Maybe he's right to some degree as we don't know the internals of the team, but analysts have been saying SEN's strats are bad for a while now. That's at least partially on the IGL, either for making poor strats or not rallying the team behind them. My man is still stuck in 2020 where you can always duel and have a large ego in & out of the game and be successful. It may not be entirely his fault, but if it at least wasn't partially his fault, the org wouldn't be dropping him. He needs to develop a bit of humility and own up to his pride or I doubt he finds his way back into the franchised league.

posted about 2 years ago

I think Valyn will find a spot somewhere too, SEN being one potential place.

posted about 2 years ago

So incredibly true, and yet he gets shafted and put on smokes where his playstyle doesn’t match what the role demands. Hoping a team sees and utilizes his potential.

posted about 2 years ago

I still have some copium left in my tank if you need some.

posted about 2 years ago

Because SEN will still have to pay that mountain of money lul.

In all seriousness, it’s just how bidding goes. Imagine going to an auction and trying to buy every item that comes out. You’ll walk out with nothing because the people targeting 1 or 2 things will be walking out with items. Same logic applies here I’d assume. Only possibility is that the Optic boys say “it’s all of us or none of us.”

Xerol provided examples outside the realm of possibilities as analogous because the turret behaving the way it did should fall into the same category - outside the realm of possibilities. This is backed up by the fact that Rito replayed that round, meaning they also agree that this is an unintended way for the turret to function.

If I sat some random person down who has never seen Valorant to tell me what happens when an enemy turns a corner that the turret is watching, they'd say something along the lines of "the turret turned toward the player and shot at him." Since that's something everyone would assume it does, people would get really frustrated and confused whenever it doesn't do that.

Riot does need to get better about fixing their bugs. We are now 2/2 for Champions events where Rito had to replay part of a game due to a bug/exploit (that they knew about). People will get super disgruntled if this happens again next year.

Nah it's because Kanpeki isn't funny streamer man.

posted about 2 years ago

What a garbage org. If they kept players for more than two games they'd actually see success.

Another thing is that they only won on two maps: Fracture and Icebox
