it's a period that's more or less already started since a lot of teams don't have any VCT tournaments to play in until next year. Teams are trying out new people and forming new cores to play in weeklies/monthlies/one-off tournaments/etc
:)
when possible I actually try to not read the manga before watching the anime since the expectation of having everything in the story included in the final show makes me feel like I'm constantly judging it rather than watching it and seeing how much I enjoy the storyline in the anime, even if it's not completely true to the original storyline
I've seen a lot of shows that are 9/10s and 10/10s but if I were to restrict it to 5 here are my picks
1) HxH
2) Vinland Saga
3) FMAB
4) Mob Psycho 100
5) Golden Kamuy
honorable mentions for this list could be 3-4 times as long there are a lot of good shows I've seen
I'd imagine that RNG are at least interested but that's purely speculation on my part
7th from the top
reporter and manager for Who Cars?
from my limited knowledge of the korean scene, there aren't really that many acad rosters so the DRX acad announcement is a first
as for the flappy news, I'm honestly not sure
I'll be sure to include it in next week's recap
orgs put clear wording in announcement challenge: IMPOSSIBLE EDITION

normally I don't put practice reports in because practice/scrimming with a team doesn't mean a deal is done but since "is likely joining (Acend)" was used, that justified it being included
we're working on an article for that
Sounds like they've got the ordering of these things backwards. The Overwatch League really proved to everyone that a top-down esports structure does not work, and basically ensures that the T2 scene gets turned into a wasteland where very few amazing up and coming talents rise to the top
Even something like "hey we liked how VRLs/VRCs worked in EMEA, so we're going to try and replicate it in the other regions" is better than nothing. I'm hopeful that things will still work out, but I'm not going to get my hopes completely up until something is actually announced
On Riot's end, it allows them to partner with bigger brands and host bigger events, assuming it's done right
The biggest question mark is what's happening with the T2 and below scene since no insight (to my knowledge) has been given on what's the future going to be like for the orgs and rosters that don't make it into franchising. If Riot were to make regional leagues like what's in place in EMEA right now there'd be less panic and uncertainty, but there's really nothing to go off for the future, so people are assuming the worst
He is, but what he said crossed a line of what's appropriate and what isn't.
You've frequently pushed the boundaries of what's acceptable and what's unacceptable in what you post. The mods understand that you have very strong opinions about people like keznit, but when you say "karma :)" in response to him going to the hospital for something, you've crossed a line.
Discussion and banter is perfectly fine and welcome, but issues arise when you cross that line.
From what I've learned, Monte and Thorin (and RLewis previously but he's not in the game anymore) are people whose advice/criticism should be almost always taken with a grain of salt and the core message of what they're saying should really be analyzed more than their dramatics that come after it, which is what people tend to hang on to than the core message.
His point that a lot of people are going to go back and play CS once the game releases on Source2? Quite valid. Does it mean that there's suddenly going to be a massive exodus of players like what people were saying about CS when Valorant came out? Unlikely in my opinion. Source2 for CS doesn't mean Valve suddenly overhauls everything in terms of cheaters, ranked ladder quality, the esports ecosystem in NA being in a poor state, etc.
If people play Valorant as their 'main' game, then they'll stick with it. If they want to go back to CS, that's their choice. All I see are people trying to stoke the flames of the CS vs Val argument because they think they've got something to prove when both titles are successful and enjoyable in their own right.
there's no way this doesn't become a legendary thread
also buena suerte Onur y Leviatán en su proximo partido!
hopefully my subpar spanish grammar was correct there
I didn't include him in the final roster since he's technically inactive, but no shade was meant to be thrown by that lol
supposedly it's Kanpeki according to Dot Esports but it hasn't been announced yet
good catch

once we get a photo from Sentinels we will update it
It's been a while since I've written three news stories in a day lol
It could increase further depending on what other news there is to write about
I've been at my desk for over 15 hours doing writing related things and I didn't even get to work on News Almost Missed at all today
I feel like the embodiment of the pepeW emote right now
Thank you for the kind words though ❤
become a full-time esports/video game journalist with notoriety similar to other big names currently out there
either that or join a game company like riot and help make an esports ecosystem that's sustainable and profitable for both orgs and the parent company
Sorry this week's recap is a day late. I was out for most of the day yesterday but I did get to meet one of the other VLR writers :)

ty for pointing it out
the fact that this evolved into a copypasta is hilarious LOL
yeah we were a bit late getting started on this
there's been like nothing in the news for the past few days and it's been weird
Mob Psycho 100

I think the general consensus is that S1 was an okay adaptation but after that everything falls off pretty hard in terms of story quality and animations
the only way to explain Togashi's hiatus
he was travelling to the dark continent himself
