most of my money is for university funding and the rest(this) is for spoiling myself but i dont even know if i will be playing valorant in a few years time

posted about 3 years ago

most people who watch valorant anyways are average rank (silver 3) if they watch to improve, they would mute the stream and watch the minimap 24/7. literally the dumbest take. people watch for the hype and the teams. not to improve.

yaboidre, if you watched boondocks, you know about "a pimp named slickback" and he wants you to call him the full "a pimp named slickback" instead of just slickback. im not saying its the worst but its just funny because it reminds me of the boondocks, i actually like the name, one of the best

lurking tips: use your map. if your team makes presence on one site, perhaps they see KJ. its free real estate for you. sometimes people will wait so you need to clear every corner. patience is key.

learn the enemy habits. on bind, Raze will perhaps play close to the TP and use boombot and nade. if you see this, hide and wait for the audio cues.

if your team gets a kill on the other site, tell them to chill, wait 10 seconds, voila, you will probably hear 1 rotating to cover the other site. there is an opening for you to pounce.

dont lurk every round. you will be a free kill for the enemy if they pick up your habits.

on pistol it is almost always better to lurk and tell your team to fake since they dont expect it.

on ECO dont lurk right away, they want a free kill, they will probably push you, so you can just wait like a rat and they have to find and clear you.

on defense, if you see 5 on the map on the other site its your invitation to lurk, but dont be that guy who ends up in the site after his whole team is dead. sometimes the enemy decide to rotate back to your site, so dont lurk up behind them too fast(if they kill you, they get a free site), sit in a rat corner and once you hear footsteps going back, walk behind them, you can use trigger discipline and you're good for 2 at least.

if youre bronze you need to learn the fundamentals first.
1: aiming, counterstrafe, spray control, crosshair placement,.

your map is your biggest friend. use that shit every 5 seconds. people dont comm in EU/ low ranks and its your job to compensate for that.

2: learn to use information. keep track of the map, if you see an a jett op on A go to B. etc. track how many you see on the map. if you see 3 B go A etc. simple things. some people may think this is common sense but even in FUCKING diamond you get these braindead players who probably smashed their head with a piece of rock.

3: learn rotation timings. this is mostly intuitive but realize if an enemy was there 10 seconds ago, he may have gone to another site during that time. check your corners.

  1. if you're in a clutch situation(1v1), without any knowledge of the other enemy, actively take space, gamble, as there's only so much space the other guy can cover so if you just stay in a position you are not gaining any advantage, but if you stay put it could be a mind game and be 5Head. sometimes this is predictable in higher ranks.

  2. Use audio to your advantage, you hear someone close full running, hold your crosshair wider as he will probably wide swing you.

  3. play other agents so you can learn the specific quirks of agents, learn the adv and disadvantages of each agent. if you think like your enemy, it will be easy to counter them. e.g. omen flashed you, you dont hear anything or see (your teammates dont comm anything) assume he tp'ed behind you/ above you.

  4. everyone in this game gets baited so easily: if you see a jett peeking and then dash immediately, be careful of an enemy close in a cubby somewhere. check your corners, don't assume its clear. people think this is basic but mans just get caught lacking every game i'm in. you have to stay aware, don't go on autopilot.

  5. track ults: if you see a jett with 6/7 assume he will go for the orb, comm/type to your team, to rush the orb spots so he doesn't get a free orb. sometimes his team will help if they have comms too but its unlikely, (the higher you go, the better the team coordination is(not really tho but somewhat)).

  6. if you see traps on site, assume that that agent is hiding somewhere. i mean you're in bronze i bet no one clears the site lmaoo. literally all you need is common sense to be good in this game.

  7. use your vision cones on the map, if you run, you see a circle around you, if you aim on catching the enemy by surprise, walk before they can detect you. https://imgur.com/a/oOvHA0e . again people say this is all basic knowledge but dont apply it into their own games. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  8. the way people fake in this game is so braindead: they just full run to the other site and just announce themselves 10 seconds before executing. MAKE IT BELIEVEABLE.

  9. learn to trade but this is too advanced, it only happens in immortal+. basically if your teammate dies, dont be pussy ass bitch and sit there.(look at the map if you don't know where the enemy is). if the enemy is in a tradeable position (in the open, (not reyna/jett going back into defensive cover using dismiss/dash) you should go out of your way to trade if you know there is only 1 there. always be aware of baits, they can get 1 kill and go back and you instantly decide to rush, but theres another one waiting and he gets 2.

  10. people use their utilites just for the sake of it, without any thought of timing or intention behind it. dont be that guy. e.g. reyna runs to A main as attacker, doesn't wait for his omen smokes, flashes into A, his team scales up, the flash runs out, the enemy peaks, and his team dies. wait for your smokes, wait for your sova dart/drone.

  11. lineups are overrated: viper lineups are overrated; if the retake is fast enough they can defuse fast with time left over. instead, use your mollies to clear corners and learn smoke lineups. lineups are extremely niche, but they can sometimes make a difference when you have numbers to delay and enough time left over. or if you get a free site.

I am a Viper main in d3 but i have said nothing about viper so far. this is because you need to learn the fundamentals to get out of bronze and not a viper lineup crutch to get you to silver3 and then stagnate and complain why u aren't improving. its better you learn these things now if you care about getting better.
