he’s asking about future tournaments, where people won’t have an average of 300 acs.

miniboo getting minibooed

i agree, the stars were aligning for this team becoming incredibly good, every single player on the team was a perfect fit for their style.

the team that qualifies to 2 grand finals wins one of them and loses the other (besides fnatic who won both).
for the third event, it usually ends in mediocre results.

2021 - gambit (missed out on reykjavik)
2022 - loud/optic (loud got grouped in copenhagen, optic nearly got grouped in the matchup vs loud, but managed to get 3rd place)
2023 - eg (9th - 16th at lock-in, 1-1 record)
2024 - gen.g/th? (gen.g grouped in seoul, th grouped in madrid)

fpx is NOT getting grouped.

we should appreciate heretics keeping up good form despite multiple roster changes. granted, it was just 6 players getting swapped around, but it still counts.

oh yeah, I forgot that they had the home-court advantage, thanks for mentioning it.

as for geng also being able to practice, I feel like there is less room for them to improve compared to heretics and sentinels, since they're already great at almost every aspect of the game. It just depends on whether both heretics and sentinels can show up on their match-days. (because we know both of these teams can put up a good fight against geng)

I guess saying heretics is the best emea team is a bit overboard, but we've seen what they can do, and they're also the only emea team to make every event this year.

I have faith in fpx. (berlin greatest human to ever touch this game)

I agree, the end of the year should be more important, eg were always improving and peaked at the most important tournament, while fnc always looked great, but ran out of gas.

yea, not putting money on geng getting grouped, I just feel like it's more likely than people might think.

also, they've looked so good the entire year, surely they can't keep it up for this long... right?

of course everyone has vods, but I'm trying to say that geng is the primary target for this event.

true, their adaptations are very good, but champs is going to be their first event where they will be coming in as the defending world champs.

I won’t count vct pacific, because I think qualifying to champs by getting top 3 is more important than actually winning the regional tournament.

group b is crazy, we got the best pacific team, best chinese team, best emea team, and sentinels duking it out for only 2 spots in the playoffs.

I think there’s a good possibility geng might get grouped, considering heretics almost beat them with a sub, fpx only lost to geng and heretics in shanghai (winner and runner up) and they were both fairly close games. sentinels might not be in form right now, but are still the only team to beat geng in an international this year, and have shown that they can put up great performances when it really matters.

both heretics and sentinels have time before champs to get their shit together, fpx have only been improving since shanghai, while geng was at peak form at the time.

as an added point, geng are the defending world champs, so everyone (especially group b) are going to be reviewing their games to prepare strats against them.
