Overall, the amount of women who play video games is significantly lower than men. There's a lot of sexism in the community which can be discouraging to many. Right now more and more women are starting to play, but back then it was a very small number so statistically it makes sense that the pro scene is all men. There's not a genetic difference or anything. One day there will be a woman who plays t1, whether it's in 2 years or a decade, who knows, but riot is doing great things with GC and there is more exposure to women in gaming now which will help the scene long term.
i mean she got a trial with KCP and jcstani said really good things about her, it didn't work out, but I think it still shows that she can play at a higher level than c9w is at right now
this would be a huge win for c9w if they get this series. let's go girls!
i would've loved to see clanless vs c9w streamed, first map was really close and both are good teams
i don't think there's a clear second best
there's already far more men who play than women. and no, its not getting "yelled" at by teammates, it's experiencing blatant sexism and sometimes even harassment during games. the goal is to get more women involved in the scene and create a better environment for them, which your argument does not counter one bit
i feel like annie should also be tier 3, but I agree with the rest
game changers gives women a spotlight in a male dominated scene. with more exposure + tournaments w/ good prize pools, there will be more women in the gaming scene and that is the goal
yes, and i think she has the best chance out of all of c9w players
bro the amount of incels in chat make it so hard to watch game changers
I think being known within the general public makes someone the face of a game more than being popular among fans who actually follow the scene. That's why I think it's Tenz.
i'm pretty sure there'll be a game changers lan at the end of the year
they've been a team for the longest, also they have meL.
how is derke not the run away number 1
not sure, but itnothan was igl on her previous team, and she replaced benita who used to igl for clg so probably han
shinobi was a good edition, but the loss of benita hurts, and i don't think it's nearly enough to win a series vs c9w. unfortunately, based off results c9w is not at that level yet. they've definitely improved from a year ago though, so they could be getting better. feels bad to say this, but I really want to see meL on a co-ed team, though an all women's team is definitely good for the scene and they probably want to stick together.
c9 white is definitely better, if there's a team that could beat them it's sr not clg
i think OpTic can do better this time around compared to champions, and I think Guard will also do well, but I don't know they'll do better than OpTic. i unfortunately only watch NA so I can't speak on other regions; all i'm hoping for is some fun games with many different regions represented in playoffs!
not even an apology too LMAO fucker just avoided the whole situation and kept being a sexist asshole in front of 50k people, he's done
"just because there's hard evidence that i'm sexist doesn't mean that I am! i've spoken to women in front of you before!"
gives off the same energy of "I'm not racist, I have a black friend"
anyone can defend their friend, but it takes a W friend to stand up to them and call them out if you disagree. tarik is 100% in the right here
it's not mickey mouse drama, it's a real problem.
so because you weren't there in person to witness someone's actions even though there's literally clips and livestreams of it means that it didn't happen?
not to mention this is jason's problem, he shouldn't be throwing so much of the weight onto tarik to defend him, he should dig out of the hole that he dug himself in. being friends doesn't mean you automatically defend each other, you call each other out for shit you don't agree with. that's being a friend.
tarik is 100% in the right here both on the situation at hand and how he handled it
same, i was hoping for c9 & v1 so to see them both against each other in lowers is so sad, now that they're out i'm rooting for guard & c9 to make it!
they did look a lot better today! they still have a lot of work to do if they want to compete at the top though
i think we'd have to see trent + sayaplayer compete internationally on lan first, but they are both cracked
love the appreciation for mCe, i enjoyed his interview a lot and he seems extremely dedicated, hard working, and supportive! W coach
W post! thanks for taking the time to explain and post this
i'm rooting for C9 too because they're my second favorite team after tsm! i want V1 to make it just to repeat from last year, but I also really like The Guard and would be happy if they made it too. but ig I would be happy for any team to make it haha there's too many good teams. but yeah, I love keeping up with their social media, it's too wholesome
that video they posted on Twitter earlier with their family & friends was so cute
I had to make an appreciation post for The Guard, especially after seeing that mCe interview. Regardless of their results, they seem like an incredibly hard-working and humble team with great players, coach, supportive management & staff, and org. They're such a likable team for these reasons, and though TSM and C9 will always be my #1 & 2 teams, The Guard is definitely in my top 4 for sure!
banger match!
calling wise unsure, but i love boaster and redgar's energy!
hoping for 2-1 either way & a banger match!
yeah, sure. maybe we can focus on bigger problems like you said, the gaming community will never get better anyway so why even try, right?
you might as well replace "most people" with men. they don't think about it because it doesn't mean anything to begin with. but for women to be treated as less than for centuries and still to this day we're brushing off is really frustrating
all I'm asking for is for women to be treated equally as men. this situation clearly does not demonstrate that. what else do you want? do you only care about an issue when it affects you? because i'm so tired of men telling me that it's not sexist and to just brush it off when i'm the one experiencing it first hand along with so many other girls. you clearly see the flaws in the industry yet you choose to not do anything about it
but hey, we all have our opinions and i'm not changing yours. thanks for reading my replies. have a good night
the fact that you want help and are admitting to your faults already shows that you're improving yourself so you're doing great and keep it up! :)
i'd say the small things really help keep me sane. like keeping up with basic hygiene, taking time for yourself, exercising, etc. focus on making yourself okay first; once you do that, it's easier to be a kinder person to others which will repeat the cycle
Take it one step at a time and be in the moment whether it's at school, with friends, family, etc; it's not gonna be perfect. Making progress is the goal, there's no such thing as a perfect life or a flawless individual, and even the smallest amounts of progress count
And you can always come back to vlr or talk to your online friends or strangers about life. you got this! I'm really proud of you, stranger :D
like i said; some people are just assholes to everyone, not just women. i get that everyone deals with toxicity, the toxicity we deal with is different obviously. i've gotten those teammates before as well. i can easily tell if my teammate is an asshole or a sexist asshole, and I hate the latter so much more. when it comes to braindead teammates, there's really nothing you can do about it. but when it comes to sexism, there is so much that we can do to break barriers for women in gaming yet, like this situation, keeps getting brushed off. yes, the valorant scene and the world in general is sexist. we can't just say 'whatever' because its always been this way; you said it yourself. men troll scrims against women, it's passed down generation to generation. why can't we do something about it? are you okay with the community being like this?
anyway thanks for reading, just wanted to give my perspective on this situation (i'm really tired and i'm gonna go to bed but hope your dinner was good) we all have our opinions and i can't change yours but all good ig
as long as you're not an asshole to women for no reason in your ranked games i hope you have a good day/night
instead of being a guy talking about how women don't experience sexism, I'm a girl talking about the issue because I have personally experienced it and also have seen COUNTLESS of other girls experience the same thing.
say that girls are treated with the same respect in video games as guys with a straight face. this whole situation literally proves that wrong and is the antithesis to that
if he's born an asshole, he's still an asshole. maybe he should listen to the thousands of people who are calling him out rather than the singular amount of people who raised him
sexism in esports has always been a huge issue. to have a popular streamer dodge and mute girls, talk about them as if they're less than him; it doesn't matter his intentions or his reasoning behind his actions. if you do this based on gender alone you're an asshole. one of your points was that it's not hurting the woman because she can queue again; just how much does the woman have to do? queue a game, get shit talked because girls can't play video games. play another, someone hears your voice and dodges. some people are just assholes to everyone, yes, but to be shit talked based on something you can't control is frustrating.
I remember that one clip where he was told to dodge a lobby and he said "nope, can't dodge. there might be a bitch on the team and people are gonna hate me!" and his entire chat is laughing. is this the community we want to build? he's mocking the situation, he's mocking women, for what? for existing? even the smallest actions of dodging and muting can make a big impact
integrating women into the pro scene, getting more women and girls interested and excited to play video games is gonna be tough if this is the valorant community. it makes me frustrated that we're just brushing off something that is rooted in sexism and is doing nothing but negative things to esports culture
feel free to keep replying
the world doesn't revolve around you and your experiences. if you don't think it's a gender issue then you're either unaware or extremely ignorant towards real world issues.
i'm glad you think i make logical sense because this whole situation is giving me brain damage haha
always rooting for the tsm boys no matter what :D
well yeah, you're a guy. willing to bet that never in your life you have experienced toxicity based on your gender.
i can see why blatant sexism is questionable, but there's more to the situation than jason's actions themself. it's also about who it affects. how are we going to expect to fully integrate women into the scene comfortably when there's someone muting them right when they queue in? how are we going to make women feel like they belong in esports when they're being treated this disrespectfully and as unequal? whatever his intentions or reasoning may be, i'm more concerned about who his actions are affecting and the negative impact that it has on valorant.
no reasoning will justify his actions or words.... yes, my wife is insecure so I call women hoes and mute them? whatever the reason may be that's a shitty thing to do
there's no way sexism is "unrealistic" in this situation.... yes his wife may be a part of it but we don't know the reasoning behind his actions for sure. the thing we can guarantee is that dodging and muting based on gender alone is a problem and it is absolutely a big deal; saying that it isn't is just a reflection of the blatant sexism that has always been in the esports industry. along with his overall attitude when talking about women + the situation in general.... not a good look
given that sexism is a huge issue in the community already and also the size of sick's fanbase+viewers, I think he should speak up on it. there have been multiple streamers either not speaking up on the issue or saying that they're neutral because they don't want to be caught up in "drama" which makes it seem like the situation isn't serious when it absolutely is.
but to each their own ig.
sick has said that he wants to remain neutral (which I disagree with, he should be speaking up on it given the weight of the situation) but I think it's more so that he feels uncomfortable calling him out given that they were friends prior to the incident blowing up.
we're already scared, they're a great team
