FNS was right (maybe)

So recently in an interview FNS mentioned that the 1st place playoff confirmed was complete BS and even if Optic got it they'd still be pretty unhappy. 4 games into the playoffs, the top seeds from NA and SEA, the two teams being the Guard and Paper Rex, are already in the lower bracket where they played each other and only one of them won, the winner was Paper Rex.

Now, this being Guard's first LAN, we can make an exception as they lack experience on LAN, but I think FNS was right. If teams were given an opportunity to battle it out against each other in groups instead of getting a free ticket to playoffs, newer teams could have gained experience and gotten used to or readjusted to the LAN environment, instead of going into their first ever LAN or a LAN tournament in a while with a blind eye, sure the teams do scrim each other but I doubt they use an offline server for that. Anyways that's just my take on what FNS said and it probably being a reason for the Guard's premature elimination. What do you think? Comment your thoughts below.

Edit: Do you guys think the Val esports organizers should adopt a Round-Robin format tournament for non-riot events or even riot events in the future? To me it seems like the best format for most Esports in general and using a points system like the Six Invitational 2022 might just be great as well. The SI 2022 format also had teams placed 1st from groups advance into the 2nd round of playoffs automatically where as the 2nd and 3rd would have to play in the 1st round and the 4th seeded teams would go into the lower bracket

Yeah. I think the first seeds should be given an extra redemption opportunity wherein they start with everyone and have to qualify for playoffs but rather than 2, they need 3 losses to be eliminated.
I know sounds nuts but if the seeding matches are important then this is something every team will right for through and through.
So make something like a round robin with the top seeded teams so they have an extra opportunity.

They could do a round robin format or whatever its called. Its basically the format used in Six Invitational 2022 and it is one of the better formats for Esports I'd say. And the top seeded team from the group was given an advantage where they wouldn't have to play the first round of playoffs and would move onto the second, but I'm not sure exactly how many teams were given that boost. The points for playoffs qualifications were a oretty good scoring system as well and I think they should introduce it for future events in Val.

This new format has its pros and cons
you mentioned most of the cons but there are any pros aswell
1) People can enjoy watching every region in playoffs so the term minor/major region will slowly diminish
2) Teams which arent strong enough and dont deserve to be in the playoffs will get experience playing against these strong teams and improve in the next circuit .
there are some more but i think its a good decision riot took

My idea is to just not make it a 12 team event, instead have 16 teams for each masters and when champions arrive you can have something like 32.

Maybe, but this is all hypothetical. There's no guarantee they wouldn't have just lost in the group stage as well and eliminated at the same rate.

IMO experiencing (playing)is better than watching
