why doesnt it make sense? it rewards teams for winning thier region and Regional Grand finals gets more value
seeing the trends from last year it's quiet clear that team with better seed always isn't better
But they were "better" at the time of the seeding/start of the tournament, being the first seed. No one at the time knew if SEN wouldve flunked in groups or made it to finals.
makes event over complicated + you shouldn't have a 2nd chance at a level that huge
Biggest issue is that if you look at Iceland last year and it was just single elim finals would have just been Nuturn vs Sen, but double elim made it so that fnc came back as well, the point is so that you have the 2 best teams in the finals. I recommend reading this for a better idea https://www.vlr.gg/79207/the-power-of-double-elimination
but yeah why is there a actual need of double elim, last 2 events didn't had a double elim and still had good finals, also it's quite uncommon so see double elim in a event of that stake. I didn't even get what was the article try to say, I guess I'm just dumb
It’s the best format they could’ve done honestly, more games more fairness, not that repetitive group stage stuff and double elim are great
L take just finding something to complain about. this is the best format and it give alot more value to those "seeding matches"
with only 12 teams, it's the best thing they could make to the championship... the only way to make it better is to increase the number of teams to at least 24.
The championship would be a LOT more fun... but 12 still ok to me about being a A-tier championship
Hard agree, only issue is we might not see the playoff seeded teams play as much
imo that's not a problem... is more like advantage to them (since they're better seeded), cuz they're able to study their opponents better
I think it's a bit of an issue just because those teams are some of the most popular in their respective regions (Loud, Prx, The Guard, G2), and by putting them in playoffs it cuts down on the number of games you see them play. It's fine in terms of just making a fair competitive bracket. It's more of just an issue from a spectator's pov.
about this spec pov, I really agree
but they need to equilibrate it to be best for both spec and players/teams and actually this masters format is the best for now... but I hard want to watch more games from the best teams
they want underdog story like dota did thats why they have group loser and double elim
most people in here were thinking this would be the format, idk why people are surprised
man double elims are the most exciting, there are chances to see an insane lower bracket run all the way to the championship win. dota's ti is hyped because of this format too, think about team liquid at ti7 or team spirit last year
