i would be downvoting ppl if i was still in high school. my parents had me on that koolaid juice, promising me engineering was the best career to have. maybe in their generation, but not anymore. courses are too difficult for the return you get (and this is coming from someone who took AP classes in high school and finished 11th of 500+), shit becomes no fun fast. i took one accounting class and i was ready to switch. i speak from experience, you'll see when you actually enter the workforce. i'm sitting at a desk doing jack shit all day. nobody is out here designing cool new shit, that's not what "engineers" do. we just maintain shit and do database stuff. easy but boring, i've experience no fulfillment yet.

plus, with an engineering degree, you can't progress. what you gonna do, become "Engineer II" or "Engineer III?" marginal pay upgrades while still doing the same shit. you make it to "Senior Engineer Lead" or some shit by 50, then MAYBE you crack 100k. You ever try to go to another field, people see an engineering degree and don't hire you. you get a business degree, the sky's the limit.
