I keep seeing people say it comes down to map differential then round differential and I'm seeing others say its just a h2h so how does it actually work?

It goes h2h then h2h maps then overall rounds and then I think they play bo1s 🗿

It’s h2h first. Rest is here https://liquipedia.net/valorant/VCT/2025/Americas_League/Stage_1/Group_Stage, click “Click here for tiebreaker rules”

so what if heretics somehow lose to navi then beat fnc? would they have to play them again?

So I’m assuming you’re asking what happens in a three way tie (if FNC, TH, and NAVI are all 4-1). Since in this case FNC > NAVI > TH > FNC, there’s an unresolved three way tie and it goes to map differential, if map is tied it goes to round differential

“3-way tie
Head-to-head Match Series
Teams with two matchup head-to-head advantage automatically receives first of the group. Tie-breakers for the remaining two teams are determined using the above head-to-head tiebreaker process.
If no team has a two matchup head-to-head advantage (all Teams are 1-1 head-to-head), then proceed to next step of the 3-way tie-breaker process.
Map differential”

No sorry i wasn't clear. I mean if heretics lose against navi they would be 3-1. Then they have to play fnc and if they win they will be 4-1. But then fnc would also be 4-1 so would they just play each other again? I'm guessing that would be how it works but it would be a bit odd

Ah I see… they don’t play each other again. If FNC and TH are the only teams that are 4-1 but TH beat FNC, TH is #1 seed, FNC is #2 seed

“2-way tie
Head-to-head Match Score”

However if NAVI is also 4-1 by beating TH and VIT, the above scenario (#7) happens.

I think it's like
If X and Y have the same win/loss, then the team which won in their encounter (X vs Y) is placed higher.

For map/diff/round diff
Suppose three teams X, Y and Z
If X beat Y, Y beat Z, and Z beat X, and all three teams have the same win/loss, then the team with a better map differential is placed higher. If all three teams have the same map differential, it moves onto round differential.
