Here's the question:

The principal and father

That's it. No context, no predjucate

just the subject.

The only options of is/are

what did my stupid ass pick?

Are.

turns out it's only singular so the answer is "is", if the sentence went like this:

The principal and the father

THEN it has 2 subjects
