First Champions and Major Major Tournament is 1 Million Dollars? Sheeesh Riot Chillll
I know but most football fans never care about prize money, they care about trophies , about the events ,not ''how much money my team will get after winning a tournament ''. And Sport-teams or even LoL teams don't grow by prize money, sponsors, TV revenues are much more bigger. TSM is arguable biggest, richest Esport-organization in the world, and they don't even have DOTA team, only LoL team made them that big, and you know LoL prize-pools are tiny
Clubs do not make transfers based on prize money, tho. Small clubs, maybe, but a team like Man City doesnt rule out 5 transfers at the end of the season because they didnt win the Champion's League, or even quality for it. Money comes from sponsorship, ticket sales, merchandise, and other revenue streams, similar to how in esports most orgs earn through content creation and sponsorship.
the scene is not healthy at all, it is impossible to get anyone to care about anything other than TI. if an event doesnt have 10's of millions on the line absolutely no one watches it. having events like blast, redbull, nerdst in val and blast, iem in csgo that fans care about gives the scene more diversity and a solid base for teams to grow/invest.
