Here in india we have too much diversity even in terms of languages so southern states prefer English stream more than hindi hence if there is only one stream then it is going to be an english stream.

South people migrate to other countries a lot more often than people in north so they learn English, and barely any people know hindi much coz no one uses it there, they just use their mother tongues

English is the global language doesnt matter what britishers did
In todays world its the most spoken language is used as conversation means not Hindi
Only few states in north india speak hindi
