sorry, I'm not that of a social media user so I came here to ask for help from indians.

my cousin will fly to Chennai in a few days and I want to know about the isp, sims, packages with suitable deals and stuff.
he will have a sim from the provider "Airtel" which will work in India without any issues but I don't know if that Sim can signed up for any credit or data packages in there.
so does anyone have any idea about this stuff? does he need to purchase a new SIM from there? what are the good deals and packages for it? or can he just rely on roaming?
highly appreciate everyone who can help me up with this. thanks

Get a SIM from India. I will suggest a jio, Vodafone or an airtel SIM and a package of atleast ₹349 for unlimited data and call time that will work for 1 month. I don't really know how things work here in Chennai so try to connect a expert from there.

thank you mate. actually he's gonna be there for like 5 days so I think a package for a week will be enough. but glad to be aware of those unlimited packages exists there. thanks again

Yes they need to purchase the sim from local store, Airtel and jio are main mobile sim provider there so if your cousin is planning to buy airtel, then have him search airtel retail store near him on google map. He can find all data/call/international calls plans in there. they need Xerox copy of visa and passport.

I've seen bengaluru and delhi airport have Airtel and jio retail store inside the airport itself. I'm not sure about chennai. Since it is one of the big airports I'm pretty sure it will be there too.

thank you. actually, we have Airtel here so he is about to carry one from here. asked our local CS but those international packages are overpriced as hell.
but yeah, looks like the best and only decision to purchase a new sim card from there with an unlimited package or something that supports IDD calls too will do the job.
thanks again
