objective : protect/defuse spike (MOBA defence of the ancient Dota)
kill is second priority
Controllers are experts in slicing up dangerous territory to set their team up for success.
— Official Controller Description
do u think what this really mean "to set their team up for success" it all about spike/defuse
Smoke making the timing more in our favor, why do we need the smoke position? Without smoke, retaking or planting the spike becomes very difficult. Thus, the controller position is the one that gives us the advantage to win when planting or defusing the spike. This position can play mind games with the opponent without having to kill them, leading to the often-heard phrase, "pros don't fake."
Therefore, if we compare this to a MOBA game, the positions are:
Position 1 (Hard Carry Smoke only): The team's ace player with the longest lifespan and clutch potential.
Position 2 (Sentinel/Smoke): The position just below the hard carry.
Position 3 (Initiator/Sentinel): Helps facilitate mid-round plays and protects against flanks.
Position 4 (Duelist/Initiator): Provides information for the team, acts as the second entry, and sacrifices themselves to give the team info.
Position 5 (Duelist): Has the shortest lifespan, stays at the front, and opens up the fog for the team.
From what has been said, it is not surprising that top teams always have insane strongest player (hard carry) like Karon, Cyrocell, CHICHOO, Boo, and Boaster.
Any team that doesn't have a strong player in this position has no chance of winning in the majors.
