Guys, between LOCKIN and KICKOFF
Which do you guys prefer?
And if you choose one but make some minor adjustments?
Personally I would go with LOCKIN
Specifically, get all 48 teams from the franchising leagues.

Separate each Region Franchise into 3 groups of 4.
A total of 12 groups. Then, the fun part; each Region group only plays another region group.

Basically we have AM1 AM2 AM3
EM1 EM2 EM3 CN1 CN2 CN3 AP1 AP2 AP3

Then you get a group stage that's done in 12 days !!!
AM1 × AP2
CN2 × EM3
CN3 × AM2
EM2 × AP1
CN1 × AP3
EM1 × AM3

That way you only get the matchups people can care about, region matchups! Nobody gives a shit about G2 vs Furia, or KRU vs EG

But KRU vs TH? even if you don't give a shit about the teams you still wanna root for your region!

Just to clarify, it would be Bo1s. As to make it time manageable. We could get 8 MATCHES IN A DAY

EDIT: Some people are saying bo2s would be better with draw points and win points. I guess that could work?
For the Bo1s I was thinking about making them all play the same map? The new map at the time, like, a new map comes out in January 2025 and then during the group stage that's the map we see

if it’s for money bo1s not worth it, bo3 minimum. but i like the idea, could spread it over longer time so teams can come up with some anti and there’s more to watch

No no no. The idea is that this would be the Group stage, the best placed teams in each group would advance to playoffs as normal, I haven't done the math to see if single elim or double elik would work better. But that's another math

Please no lock in. Sure it was interesting, but it was so much to watch and that was only 32 teams. Having 48 teams is insane. Also not to mention the costs for riot.

Lock in was supposed to be a one time thing to introduce all the partnered teams and I like that. Maybe if they did a small tourney between all the ascension teams? But even then there’s not much merit and all it would do is waste strats

make it bo2. and both teams play once on attack first and then defence first. in case of 1-1 go by round differential. if that is equal keep running ot.

So all teams have to play the same map

But the team which plays first will be at a disadvantage as all teams won't be playing on the same day.
And regardless of the map it's still more or less a coin toss.

Riot is never gonna spend that much money for your format. They ran a fucking 8 team masters with single elim playoffs for qualification. They need to increase the number of teams honestly for a masters event. 8 is just too low.

All they need to do is run it on Brazil. Cheap as hell. Great crowd. If they learn from their mistakes (and let people take food and drinks into the arena, also allow the air conditioner to run) they could do this format

basically, 8 teams are put into 4 groups each at random (so there are 32 teams in total). During group stage, only 4 teams go forward, upper final winner and loser get 1st and 2nd seed respectively. There is a losers bracket for groups, winner of losers bracket gets 3rd seed. Also a last chance bracket, winner of last chance gets 4th seed for playoffs. If you have a better seed, you start higher up into the playoffs, so first seeds start in the quarterfinals while 4th seed play from the beginning. If you lose you are out in playoffs, no second chances
