There were cases this year where the older "stronger" teams were beat by the newer teams competing in Madrid. For example, didn't KC have to beat FNATIC to qualify? I don't get the logic. IMO the teams that made Madrid just adapted to the current meta better than the others and are thus better.

I think that has more to do with the fact that 25% of the teams are from China, which lowers the overall skill level of the tournament by a lot. I think there is also an argument that in emea in particular, the best teams didn’t go to this event (idk if I would make the argument or not, just saying that it’s there)
