I don't understand why they consider gaming bad? Just a few moments ago we were watching news of a star kid getting for consuming banned drugs, he recently came to india after completing his college overseas & then my dad started saying these rich kids just go to foreign countries & start doing bad things like drugs, gaming. I said why you are considering gaming bad & he started a small argument started with me & at the end nothing changed he still considers gaming bad. He says gaming should only be done as a hobby for 10-15 min after doing 4-5 hours of work.

yeah i guess it was same with sports when they were at our age & for us it is same for esports I hope future generation parents to be supportive to esports too as currently our parents are towards sports.

Are you serious? Sports is considered good for thousands of years. There is no way your dad's parents treated running or football or whatever like he treats computer games. Do you when the first olympic games were held?

i think the main reason is
they are like old school so they dont know like the current trends
so they dont know the pros and cons of gaming
they only see the bad instead of goods

not tryna offend anyone
theyre all amazing people

I mean most parents especially ones from places like Asia did not grow up with video games so they don't fully understand what the pros and cons are to them. Obviously a life without video games would benefit the world but I mean it's meant to be a leisurely activity like watching the TV or having a nap. Your parents might say its unproductive but you're right in the sense that in this day and age its okay to play video games during your down time

Game bad if you <18 or unemployment, you can still play game tho, but waste a lot of time when you <18 or unemployment is bad move.
If you're 18+ and got a job, do whatever make you happy.

bro in india working along side college is very rare instance. so if take that into account it may go to you>21 still unemployed then it is bad move. Also, at that time none of the unemployed person would be playing instead he would try to get employed asap.

I know they fear that I will not focus on my career coz of gaming. I don't want to persue any gaming or esports related thing as my career(at least not till I will get settle in my life & have some source of stable income) & I know that very well, also I perceive gaming as a source of entertainment only(for me) I don't spend hours & hours grinding it but they don't understand it or I should say they don't want to understand it right now maybe after I will get stable in my life.

they clearly said they don't want me to game even if I will perform good. So I guess only way I can go out of this is when I will get a real paying job.

I think people tend to underestimate gamers as lazy and not hard working people. I remember when I was gaming way back it was seen as a taboo and looked down upon. Most gamers I met are damn productive in their real lives it's insane. They have real jobs, work really hard and even highly intelligent at times, well the older gamers anyway but I have no doubt hyperactive teens who play games also have massive potential. Me being the odd one out of course haha

I mean with that logic, they also watch television as a source of entertainment so everytime they spend time on watching television they are also wasting their time, right?

last year my brother got a full racing wheel and pedals setup for my father so that he can enjoy games like Forza Horizon. My father had a car accident and he never drove after. He's now retired and spends a good time on Horizon 4. Now the three of us are scolded by my mom for being late for dinner.

Gaming is wrong when u have an addiction
valorant addiction kinda fucked me up back then
It kinda affected my mental health. And also my posture.
But now, I overcame it.
just don't get addicted to it and u are good to go.

I think it also depends on the culture, for example my parents are Asian but are Westernized. They don’t care what I do as long as I do my work and get good grades. Personally I think parents who monitor your every move and keep tabs on you doesn’t allow you to learn personal responsibility on your own as you’ll become used to people telling you to do something.
