idk how singapore works but south korea became pretty lenient with military

you can go out 24 days from 1.5~1.8 years of your mandatory service
im pretty sure you get more break days if you are celebrity
sports players can be excused from military if they: got a medal in world cup/olympics, gold medal in asian game (asia version olympics)

It depends on what vocation he gets. Some get an office job and can return home everyday. Some have to stay in camp and can only go home on the weekends
