Split-to-split viewership isn't really an amazing indicator of shrinkage imo. just look at League of Legends - the spring splits usually get more hours watched and average viewers (peak viewers usually depends on the finals matchup).

Year-to-year is usually a better metric

You forget that PH stream used to air on valorant esport main channel that why they get many views cuz Its not only pinoy who watch it same as SG/MY but now every country get their own channel that when the views drop

PPGL is greedy for views on their main channel. If they had done what Indonesia and Thailand did to create a valorant esports channel from the very beginning, maybe it wouldn't have come to this. Check out PPGL's channel now. Getting abandoned KEKW.

Tbh I try to watch all live challengers here in APAC as much as I can but the only thing that set me off from watching the PH one was the production. I don't know if watching live is different but like compared to other regional streams, it really felt like low quality and uninspired compared to other streams. It almost felt like they didn't have a proper venue/production and budget to prioritize viewer experience. Just my two cents.

The main issue as "leaked" by a former caster that the allocation by the production behind VCT PH is fewer compared to the Mobile Legends league. Thus if the Mobile League's production is awarded to that prod. Expect a slightly lower quality to Riots production.

I see. Besides that, casters can only control so little. The director and organizers have to do their market research and analysis as well as to how they can continue to foster the community and related aspects of the scene in the country. Riot also gave the regions a specific budget for these type of things. Look at India for example, a lot of mobile games as well but I think they are really doing a good job stepping up their lans and the quality of their production as well. Other than that, I'm sure the PH scene can recover hopefully. Btw, I remember being disappointed because I think the PH stream was broken when it was the upper bracket finals - day 1, the one with NAOS vs Oas. Then when they went live the next day, I didn't really feel like watching anymore because the other VCTs like ID hooked me up with their consistency (even though I couldn't understand anything from the casters because I don't know their language lmao).

TH growing is a nice sign, since they had to compete with PUBG PC (and yes, you are hearing this correctly. PUBG PC. Not dota, not lol, not cs not even FIFA that strived most viewership here as a non mobile game but PUBG PC)

Dota has no good player left here, being valve game meant no local investment. Players are gatekeeping each other
LoL is all but dead thanks to Garena
Same applies to every Blizzard games
CS has long been dead in SEA since no SEA teams can win over TYLOO/MVP to major
RL, Siege, any RTS games is not interested in SEA because of how unwelcoming to newbies are
FIFA has once did higher numbers than PUBG, but Garena fumbled their game as well
EA doesnt formed a Thai office for APEX

TL;DR: Outside of VALORANT its the only non Mobile game to suceed, every game else has failed
