What happens if a team that made it into tier 1 thru ascension win champions? Does riot have rules in place to keep them there or do they go back into tier 2 after their time is up? Is it likely the team will just get poached if the latter is the case?

umm, the team may get signed, or just split up but are likely to join the best franchise teams. Assuming you are talking about the second year after getting into franchise from ascension.

If we're talking abt NA then it's likely one of M80 or TGRD wins and the other gets completely poached out. No matter what at least like 7/10 players on those teams should be in franchising and with players getting replaced after 2023 it's most likely those guys and a few other stand outs make their way into T1.
