at soccer?
serious question
not many people playing there?
In terms of major sports here (I'm talking U.S. only you'll have to ask someone else about Canada and Mexico) it ranks behind American Football, baseball, and basketball an argument could even be made about getting the same attention as hockey. our soccer league also only started in 1996 so it's a pretty young sport here. The hope is to slowly raise interest over the years, we used the 1994 world cup to launch the league, so the next will world cup will hopefully bring more attention. All that to say give us about 50-60 years 😂
i know some would say "heh indian talking" but seeing canada play i think according to me that one of the main problem is that the vision of all players are not on a global level as of yet.. like if they are on right wing they continue to pass towards right wing their passing expertise is just not on the level of other global stars
Not many people in the USA care much about soccer
it's one of the biggest sports for children grades K-6, but once kids start moving to junior high and high school they tend to switch to different sports.
The sports people care the most about in high school and beyond are Basketball, Baseball, and American Football. Probably 85% of people that played Soccer when they were younger switch to either those 3 sports or more minor ones like Track and Field or Wrestling
There simply isn't enough interest in the sport especially at a collegiate or professional level.
If someone is an amazing forward because they are extremely fast and good at finding openings, those skills are immediately transferrable to a position such as Wide Receiver in American Football, and the scholarship opportunities, popularity in school, and professional money possibilities are unbelievably higher.
