maybe a bit late to talk about this but I think people misunderstand the point of open trials so much. a gold player is not going to make it to a pro team, they may be able to apply, but the coaches aren't going seriously consider their application. these teams are still trying to build good rosters the reason why there are doing trials is that they want to find talent that they weren't looking at before or is not looking at anyone specific.

It's not like that your resume should be strong enough that team should do trials even if you are plat or have stronge stat line with good rank at some point you need to prove yourself to everyone

its about finding a random talent who doesn't mind being a 6th player, can outperform pros in tryout, being good enough to give them opportunity in the 'pro scene'. T1 BeomJun is that player.
