player breaks

I understand Valorant is entering franchising for the first time, but the old schedule was and the current break is ridiculous.

This game's viewership is probably going to take a long time to build up since people's favorite teams play once every 10 months

how can this be profitable for the orgs involved?

Its roughly the same as league of legends

Worlds in September/October, regular split starts again in Feburary with events running all the the way through to next worlds with minimal breaks.

I think people were expecting more from the offseason/independent tournament organizer series following Champions and its been a bit of a letdown. While the faze all-star weekend and spike nations were fun it was more content oriented than competition

Redbull HG and Knights freezeout are in the horizon but I'd rather see actual Ascension or even partnered teams attend rather than some pugs

When will people for VLR realize that riot built the biggest esport of all time, and just yesterday they had 20% growth from last year worlds

they fking know what they are doing

youre telling me that having random 3rd party organizations put on a variety of T1 events that is almost impossible for newcomers to follow is not the optimal way to run and monetize the esport for your game???????

Well, in big corporates they have to sacrifice some stuff to follow protocol even if it hurts a little bit ( this off season fiesta )

we all know that ESL, blast what ever dont want to run 3rd party events while being choked by riot, while those random 3rd party org probably agreed to, thats why we have them doing it

  • for all riot care VALORANT esport didnt even start

and you can tell how much they will invest that they invited 30 teams for a month just for a kick off tournament

nah i mean Valve should have contracted ONE entity to organize it if they werent going to do it themselves, its too complicated in its current form

for all riot care VALORANT esport didnt even start

They put on a bunch of international events on their own during a global pandemic, did a decent job, and built a solid fanbase so idk if that's totally accurate BUT yes I agree that their vision was almost always what we're about to get post Kick-Off, a slightly tweaked LCS format to cater to established FPS tournament structures.

Yeah theyre gonna put everything they can into this because if it failed (it wont, but if) they wasted how many development years plus the last 2 years of VCT which Im sure have not hit the endgoal numbers that they're looking for

Riot has league to be profitable within 3 years, so are they def working on getting VALORANT profitable as well.

and judging by how they avoided all the mistakes they did with league here in VALORANT

I expect VALORANT to be profitable way sooner than what it took for league

I respect Riot's success with League but it's ridiculous that fans of such a new game have to wait so long to see their favorite teams/players play

they could at least toss in a few regional cash cups or something over the franchising transition

I honestly think this is better for long term esport,

we just have to stop comparing these new games to CSGO.

CSGO has die hard fans where they can have 99999 international events a year and still have viewers

but if VALORANT did the same, a lot of people will get bored of those repeated matches, no hype at all

look at all the other sports

mostly working the same way, very few big shot tournaments in the year calendar

while I agree with can have little more tournaments, maybe 1 more internarial tournament and thats it, no more

I don't need constant international events but there should at least be a couple lower tier regional events so that fans don't have to wait 4 months if their team loses a qualifier

Riot throws in some like 50-100k online cash cups and the situation is immediately better

esports is never profitable for the orgs

3 month break for tier 1 and about 4 month break for tier 2 is too much
the max pause should be 2 month, 1 month of chill, 2 month scrims and preps
decision: add one more masters
