Why did Soniqs choose to switch to NA when they could have played in OCE and it would have been easier for them to qualify for Champions at the end of the year? I don't understand their thought process behind this decision, someone please tell me?

They would have lost to NA either way, might as well learn from it by competing with some of the best teams
Also the prize pools in OCE suck
their goal isnt just to qual, they want to become the best team in the world. if they train against a stronger region then thatll benefit them long term even though we arent seeing them be the best right now
Money. Even if they just grind up to lower T1 level. They get more money than being the top of OCE.
Soniqs were at the top of OCE and since no one knew how regions compared to each other back then, it wasn't the worst gamble to switch over. Plus, they gained way more money and attention when switching over. Furthermore, a more developed and colorful scene just makes it easier to get better.
They also moved for the frequency of Tier 1 and Tier 2 tournaments. NA has Knight's monthly gauntlet, NSG and other frequent T 2 tourneys on top of the official VCTs here.
more money, more fans, more exposure, tougher opponents, more frequent tourneys.
