I was just wondering, what do you guys think of the anime? I'm 2-3 episodes in, and I think its a solid anime. Not extraordinarily good like one piece/tensura but its still a gem.

One of the critiques I have for it is the lack of world building and explaining the story of the world, the backstories of characters, and what even IS the world that this show takes place in. Like Lycoris, how did that come to be? are they connected to government? how the fuck does chisato dodge bullets? too many questions unanswered.

Its a 12 episode long anime

the reason one piece and tensura has such good world building is quite simply because their source material is somewhat lengthy and can fit it in

also lycoris recoil is an original and i dont think they intend to go so far with it

as for the unanswered questions, im pretty sure the plot is building up to tell us that

While what u said does make sense, its a shame isnt it? The premise of this story is very unique, i could easily see it having multiple seasons, fleshed out details and world building, and becoming a top tier anime like one piece/tensura if it had more time invested into it.

Yea but it’s an anime original so it would be difficult to predict how well the anime would do. Better to flesh out characters that could lead to higher dvd sales. World building would mean less if the anime never became popular.

Why spend resource on world building on a 12 episode anime with no source material when you can just spend the same resource on creating characters that could carry the show.

I guess, but i dont really like that approach... From a business standpoint, sure, but as a viewer, it would just make it much more 'permanent', if you get what i mean. ussually animes like these are one-and-done, after a couple years no one really remembers it because its not as fleshed out. this anime has the potential to really be a GOAT

definitely. its probably the best thing airing this season so seeing the world build up as well as even more of the really good character development could make this a contender to be one of the biggest anime of this decade

caught up with anime and manga, have only the 7th and 8th volumes of the ln, and read some of the wn, it is unironically my favorite series of all time

Yeah honestly man, the characters, world building, and interactions are just too good and unique and wholesome. everything about it hits the right spot, with so much potential to just keep going

plus i like how rimuru isn't that generic boring shonen mc yelling for his friends to powerup or having moral dilemmas over whether he should beat someone up because they killed his whole family their wife and the kids
also ik its played it out but sometimes i cant get enough of op mcs, especially when theyre more of an antihero or even a villain which i find mostly in manhwas and on rare occasions some random mangas, which basically fits rimuru's character of being nice while at the same time being completely ruthless

10/10 I get withdrawals waiting for it every week. Chisato best girl! Also the world building isn't just an info dump early on, each episode you learn more and more about the world and these characters.

Chisato is best girl, but i'll have to disagree with that last part. I'm 5 episodes in and still have like 100 unanswered questions about the basic plot of the world, back stories, who works for who, which corporation is bad, how these things came to be the way they are, And I highly doubt that will be fixed within 12 episodes.

again, this is a really good anime for not having any source material, with great character relationships, but it could be so much better with more seasons and world-building. on that note, netero, do you know if this is likely to get a season 2 or nah?

Well it's really popular in Japan rn and they're making a manga for it so probably. Even Hideo Kojima is endorsing the fuck out of it, if he made a video game for it that would be dope lol
