is it good or bad?
can someone explained
3 leagues:
Americas: NA + BR + LATAM
Europe: EMEA + MENA
Asia: (SEA + SA + OCE + JP + KR)
Riot picks all the teams they want in the league - there is no "buy-in". If they think a team will stay competitive, Riot will PAY the team to participate in the form of stipends relative to their investment. Compared to CDL,OWL, and even LCS for example, this should reduce bottom teams that never try to get good.
Overall I'd say the system is pretty good, although there's not much information regarding new teams and tier-2 promotion which is necessary for a good esport.

Realistically it’s only good if you’re tier 1. Tier 2 and below will get cucked.
Larry [#6]It’s good if you’re t1 but everyone else will get left behind and dumbed in a basket.
so, this changes will make harder for any new tier 2-3 org to join & invest more in valorant team?

Depends how successful your VRL is. In Eu its better to be a top VRL team than a middling VCT team.

Most certainly. Orgs won’t invest in the scene and new orgs enter big or small because of the uncertainty. Only if a big org buys a team already like let’s say If iBuyPower wanted to buy NRG or something. Certain regions will be easier than others. EU will be the hardest region to compete in just because of how competitive it is and amount of good teams. But yeah pretty much every tier besides t1 will get cucked.

tier 2 and below*
katsu_vlr [#10]TBH, I think franchising of any sort is not good.
It says at the end of the article that they'll be listening closely to questions and feedback so if enough people complain about franchising maybe we can prevent it, since there's a long time until the year ends.
Nah, the comunity is receiving the new system pretty well. The truth is that the biggest chunk of the fans do not care about tier 2 or whatever, they just wanna see big or famous teams/players competing and franchising delivers it.

Yes

You’re not wrong about fans not caring about t2 or lower. I mean I sure don’t. But with that being said, if you are a t2/t3 player this is something you wouldn’t want. Riot is putting the orgs over the players. Never a good sign.
BadlandsChugs [#20]i find it really fucking funny that george geddes was shitting on owl for franchising, literally one day passes and this comes out, and of course he shuts his trap
LMAO

depends on how they set up the league tbh
if there are indeed relegation/promotion events or even just open qual slots then tier 2 should still have incentive to compete and develop.

Yeah it depends but never know with riot. I don’t think franchising is the best option. Never a big fan of putting org over the players. Maybe if they add a players union like what CS has or professional sports but who knows.
