They play so that they can improve. If kr and jp merge, the Japanese audience will simply stop watching cause none of the teams are able to play internationally. And once that happens, JP as a region is doomed. This is what CS:GO did to Asia. It will take time, but they will emerge as an equal soon.

And still no sign of more KR org big investment in Valorant, it's just going to be bad for the growth of the KR scene in general which is a complete opposite to JP scene where more orgs are starting to invest big for 2022.
