FINALLY, for God’s sake.

We will FINALLY have our own region again. Brazil has been a mess for almost 5 years because of this trash, franchised system.

Everyone said back in 2022 that this system wouldn’t work — and it didn’t. It was stupid from the start that Riot capped our 400 million South American region into a sloppy, pro-American system called VCT Americas.

Now we can finally have our own ecosystem and develop our own players in peace. Damn… five whole years of Valorant slop because of a poorly designed competitive scene.

this is the most real thing ever
"develop our own players in peace" yeah you guys just suck with only brazilian players (mibr is 4/5 brazil, look at their collapse this half, furia is just gone with 5/5 brazil, 2g is ascension (and still not good), etc.)

that's ridiculous, brazil and sa have been the worst region so far this year by far.
I don't want no freaking brazil bias, to get your own region you shoudl be good. Frankly, I think apac should get extra champs spots and americas should lose some, but oh well, riot is biased.

#6

should be korea getting their own region

#9

FACTS and then they should get like 5 champs spots total (korea + apac), americas gets 3

#38

and then what do u do when in valorante rng childe game a new region is the best next year? remember that this is the first year apac is #1. historically, its been switching up, and china even won champs last year

what if apac isn't that great next year? it would be a waste of a slots again

#46
ScoutViolet

Frags

that's the problem - you can't change slots based on one year, can you (except i guess ucl is doing smth now)
speaking of ucl... maybe valorant could do something like club coefficients for each region to determine who wins? ofc it's not the same since the game hasn't been around for 5 years and there's really only like 1 event at a time (vs europa league, champions league, conference league)... but i do think there should be extra spot(s) for regions that win masters like a couple years ago

They could split apac into 2 regions, one with the kr, jp, hk, tw and macao teams and the other with the teams from the other apac sub-regions and split the americas too

reducing the number of teams in each region to 8, we would have 6 regions with 48 teams in total (keeping it as it is today)

we have to wait another year, it's ggs, just stick to cs at this point

Also no one said franchising wouldn't work, it seems fine to me, like ascension teams can still do good (g2 for example, boom in stage 1, etc.) - plus franchised teams can gain riot money, and also stable jobs (no limbo of am i going to get paid more because we could be beneath tier 1 one stage and above next stage)
It's a good system, there could be some improvements, but it does provide a stable job and that's the most important thing. An improvement is not making a south americas region.

Everyone said that Franchise wouldn't work, you clearly hadn't been around for too long.

I'm here since 2020. Trust.

every fan said franchising wouldn't work
from a business pov, it's the smartest decision.
it provides job stability (not that you would know what that is) for the players, and gives a more stable income
it brings in more viewrs since the popular teams are guaranteed through franchising, gets riot more money, which can be directed towards higher prize pools (and hence higher pay for the players)
it allows for us viewers to keep track of almost every single game
it also avoid burnout, which is the biggest advantage. Before, with challengers, teams were playing way more often, and teams were playing nearly twice, three times as many rounds/maps per year. That leads to burnout and some absolute sh*t games, and also less time at the top of valorant (for the players).
franchising, from a business pov, is incredibly smart. You aren't riot, but it is the best for a stable valorant scene (we don't need new players every couple months, no burnout)

As long as the international spots for each region doesn't change i don't mind they couldmake it so 4 teams from NA play vs 4 teams from SA in playoffs it would be like a mini international

if this actually realized later on, will they do this too to pacific? make an entire new league for the South (SEA, SA, OCE) and rebrand Pacific as East (JP, KR, HKTW, Mongolia)

This would result in 6 regions with 48 teams in total (keeping it as it is today).

For the first Masters of the year, there would be 2 from the Americas (1 from each conference), 2 from Asia (1 from each conference), 2 from EMEA, and 2 from China (totaling 8 teams, as is the current format).

For the second Masters of the year, there would be 2 from each region (totaling 12 teams, as is the current format).

And for the Champions, it would be similar to Masters 1, but with 4 teams from the Americas, Asia, China, and EMEA.

that is, if they don't increase the number of teams present at international events and distribute them better across regions (obviously)

#36

well how about making those as sub regions and still with the concept of 1 whole region? like they make playoffs based on performing teams on each sub region. i know it kinda doesn't make sense timewise, but also make sense in a way that these region have equal chance.
for example, top 4 teams of the region play in playoffs still, top 3 qual for each playoffs, and the last team based on the highest point duke it out in bo5 like a lb final or grand final.

#41

Did you mean that the teams will play in their own sub-regions and the best teams from each sub-region will compete in a playoff for a spot in international events?

Well, if that's the case, I believe it would break the meaning of a franchise (giving stable work to players and organizations)

so... Americas would have 4 NA teams and 4 South Americas team for each stage playoffs? 5 regions in total, but 4 regions for international slot ya?

at least they dont gotta deal with SOOP, this will make the region more competitive even if its less teams in total

will masters II have more teams or what?

#47

no. the 2 conferences will compete for the 2-3-4 spots the americas region gets.

They are still one region, just split into two conferences like american sports usually are

Loud won the Champions while playing in Brazil.

Kru qualified for all the Champions but hasn't advanced past the group stage since 2021.

Last year, Lev competed for and won titles with only two South American players on its roster (one of them being the Aspas who carried the entire team), and this year they'll have Sato to carry them again.

If they do the LoL format but without guaranteed slots I think that would be decent. Adding a whole new region would complicate international qualification too much

you guys will still compete with the americans for spots at international events. you will not get your own slots
