what if they followed CS ESL Pro League format
https://liquipedia.net/counterstrike/ESL/Pro_League/Season_21

tier 2 teams get a region spot for a swiss stage, top 8 classifies to a second swiss stage where the franchised teams are classified through the regional leagues
everyone fights for playoffs then

might be complicated to get into the calendar but it could make tier 2 more attractive for orgs

champs could have ascension top 1/2 for each region competing

also idk how cs fans feel about this format just was checking how the next few championships work and i like this

Would be nice but Riot would Never, in Addition age ruling exists so how would you fix that?

Plus I think the import rules differ from T2 to T1 if I’m not mistaken, there’s too much of a difference between the two leagues rule wise

its not like T2 teams use imports that much
and even if they did, franchised teams would just have to deal with that, they already have more advantages

Yh sounds right but f.e. look at XLG in china I think they would’ve loved to keep both kr1stal and Rarga but since they got promoted to T1 they simply couldn’t. So T1 players could just go super team in T2 with all imports to win internationals. It’s a rather stupid thought but that’s how it is

Nonetheless I like the idea I think it would be really fun to see it basically it’s just like val was before with an open circuit no?

i dont really know because i understand that age ruling isn't really something on riot's hands, but i think it depends on where the tourneys would be and since internationals did have minors when val was a open-circuit i believe there is a way to work around that

You’re right but it would fundamentally change the system we have rn cause if you allow T2 orgs to participate in T1 tourneys then why wouldn’t the T1 orgs just sign the good players? I think it would require a radical system change to make it work, like franchise was aswell

there's more good players than spots in T1
for instance: BR been having a really good controller player wave, but there's already 4 at least decent enough controllers on each T1 team. so most will just keep rotting on T2 waiting for a chance that they will likely never have. this will likely always happen because franchising is very restricting regarding players in most regions, and the player base keep increasing

That’s true that sucks there’s always gonna be somebody who misses a chance to play in T1 but really deserves it that’s what sucks about franchising … it would be more “fun” if like how football works every team could do what they want and more teams in each respective region but riot doesn’t want that and if it would be like football money would just rule the game
