I know that EDG is getting all their flowers now rightfully so, but looking back at the perpetual second place China team FPX I can't help but feel sympathy for them given their harsh matchups early on or unfortunate close losses they had all year round:
Event | Opponent | Map Scoreline | Map Rounds
VCT 24 CN Kickoff (GF): | EDG (Winner) | 1 - 3 | Breeze: (12-14), Split: (6-13), Icebox: (13-8), Ascent: (14-16)
(Skipping Masters Madrid because they did get farmed there)
VCT 24 CN Stage 1 (GF): | EDG (Winner) | 1 - 3 | Lotus: (13-6), Bind: (9-13), Icebox: (12-14), Breeze: (8-13)
VCT 24 Masters Shanghai (Swiss R2): | Gen G (Winner) | 1 - 2 | Lotus: (16-14), Sunset: (7 - 13), Ascent: (11 - 13)
VCT 24 Masters Shanghai (Swiss R3): | Team Heretics (Runner-Up) | 1 - 2 | Sunset: (4 - 13), Lotus: (13 - 6), Icebox: (15 - 17)
VCT 24 CN Stage 2 (GF): | EDG (Winner) | 2 - 3 | Sunset: (9 - 13), Abyss: (13 - 8), Haven: (7 - 13), Icebox: (13 - 9), Bind: (8 - 13)
VCT 24 Champions Tour (Group Stage): | Team Heretics (Runner-Up) | 1 - 2 | Abyss: (12 - 14), Bind: (13 - 9), Lotus: (13 - 15)
Just have to wonder would things have been different if FPX managed to win a single Grand Finals series vs EDG in stage 1 or 2 and thus secured different seeding and matchups in internationals and not face the grand finalists early on cough group of death cough, or how much the trajectory of the tournament would've changed if FPX managed to win even one of the series against Gen. G or Heretics.
