REAL G2 Fix

CringePlayer

-Icy (for obvious reasons lol)
-Trent (guy cannot perform beyond mediocrity at international events. Sometimes even being completely detrimental to his team with how ass he plays)
-Leaf (https://www.vlr.gg/375496/reminder-that) nothing more to be said. Will never win anything EVER. You could make this guy a 6th man for 2023 Fnatic and his aura alone would ensure they got grouped at every event.

Probably helps if you improve your map pool to where you arent vetoing yourself into your opponent's 3 historical BEST maps LOL.

Doesn't matter as they will get dominated by SEN next year as they will begin their dynasty.

G2 has two fundamental problems.

  1. They don’t prioritize setting up a heavily favored initial duel. Their lack of a star fragger means their primary means of space creation is rotation manipulation by defaults and utility spamming on executes. They lack the explosiveness that a spearhead would bring — icy just isn’t that guy. While their planned executes and anti-strats can feel overwhelming, their base firepower and playstyle doesn’t have the oomph to just dominate their competition. No prior international winner had this problem at the time of their success.

  2. They fall apart during the mid round because they don’t know how to function in sub-groups outside of a holistic team. Champs EG grinded site executes and anchoring with man down disadvantages to really get good at identifying key positions for players to optimally play off each other. G2 players seem to lose track of their spacing when Valyn isn’t micromanaging and things get hectic. This is why they lose anti-ecos and toss man advantages like in the last round against FNC.

Solution 1: Drop Icy and pick up Jawgemo or N4rrate. I hear comments about how rookies need to be fostered but Icy was always a Sentinel player and he does not cut it as a World Class Duelist.

Solution 2: Break the team up into a group of 2 and 3. Have them on opposite sides and practice scenarios ran by the 3 until the group of 2 can comfortably convert at least a 3rd of the rounds. Swap players around in the groups and repeat. This is heavy, tedious work but builds intuitive synergy between the players without having to rely on an overarching structure (Valyn) to hold their hands. They have a whole offseason and I hope they get to it because they claim they put in more work than everyone else.

this is by far the best thread about g2s issues, you nailed it 👏🏽

it always bothered me why they don’t wanna play cypher. leaving sunset as your main perma ban just kind of fucks you in a lot of situations like it did today

you should just make an actual g2 fix thread and copy and paste this lmao

Saya is a free agent, no?

I'm sure he's gotten loads of offers all over still, but I imagine a player's agent and the player themselves can't set as a high a price tag as EG, based on last year.

For real, you'd think leaf would love cypher since there are more aim heavy Cypher mains out there. You can even use his cages for making space like jet smokes when lurking, so it's kinda like, how does he not play him?

I think KJ ult can be more impactful, but if you can farm Cypher ults, I think it would give them a better edge in their midrounding as a team.

I honestly think the outcome would’ve been different in the FNC game if they didn’t give haven to warm up. FNATIC isn’t top tier at sunset either lol

I absolutely hate from the fibre of my bones, the team called G2.

G2, the team who once used to be good when the other teams were burnt out have once again made me ashamed that I am from North America. G2, we bring you with us to this Honorable tournament that myriad of other teams would like to be in, but what do you do? You lose to fucking FNATIC?

They are past their prime, and you guys threw that match?

Absolutely ashamed of G2, I wish they get relocated to China, at least they'll have a similar level of competition.

Why do you qualify to just bring shame upon our region? You bummed out of shanghai, did not bring any sense of accomplishment to our region. Now, you're going back home in a shameful way, losing to fnatic.

You gotta be kidding me, fnatic?

From A frustrated North American,

Pretty sure that's been their permaban for awhile. Didn't figure out their comp, at least not well enough to run it at Champs.
