Did Riot change how Vanguard works?

When I last played this game a few months ago Vanguard was always active, now it only activates when the game starts. You can see for yourself in task manager processes. Did Riot really give in to the critcism and change how their own anti-cheat works? Ain't no way.

Just checked. Vanguard is running and I haven't played today.

Strange. I don't see it when Valorant is closed, only when it's open.

I do have it enabled Run on Start-Up so I guess that's why mine is always on at least.

Possibly. I just found it strange since their whole thing was Vanguard always being on.
