there aren't really checks for this, there's a lot of nepotism, favoritism and generally insane conflicts of interest overall that you'll just see fly.

agreed, but to be fair TS did kick that trend this season by picking up upcoming players which is pretty much the reason why they're doing well now, they actually put in the effort to scout and pick up strong talent.
