I've been using thespike.gg for almost a year now, active asf on there. Voting on matches, pickems, commenting, looking at stats, but the same 3 person threads for weeks.
Just to come here and make an account, and see tons of threads with hundreds of commenters wtf, why is this site way more active.

Vlr is probably more popular cos streamers use/mention it more often. Also thespike was under controversy a few months ago with the CEO accused of not paying his employees.

Because the lack of moderation means that any braindead monkey can make a thread about literally anything on vlr. Don't get too excited by the activity - it's a blessing and a curse.

Enigma had a lot of time to perfect the design for an esports forum while also learning to manage one, considering he created tftv and overgg. overgg built on the format of tftv, and vlr built on the format of overgg. After (effectively) 9 years of development, this site is basically his grand project. This site is just way more functional and aesthetically pleasing compared to the spike.

Also props to enigma again for out-competing the spike without throwing around wads of money to sponsor tournaments.

I switched because this site had many intuitive features like clicking on a match in the flowchart to go to match details but thespike lacked such features also overall flow is better on vlr
