Hello guys,
I need to buy a gaming laptop for uni. budgets 1000-1500usd-ish but can stretch it if its RLY good.

13-15 inch+general portability and durability needed
144hz screen minimum + runs valorant at 200+ smoothly(will hook it up to a monitor for gaming probably)
Excellent thermals and silent fan when non gaming
8+hrs of battery life when using browser/documents
Needs to look professional-ish (no weird illustrations or unnecessary rgb/weird keyboard layouts)

So far I only found ROG Z14 and Lenovo Legion slim 7 which matches these requirements. Do suggest more
Thankyou

The weight is really annoying ngl but the poor battery life kinda depends on your situation. If you have a few classes a day and you only take notes it will last. If you are paranoid about battery life you can take the charger along but that shit ways a ton too

you have to make compromises if you choose laptop
no gaming laptop really lasts 8 hours even mine with 90wh last for 6 or 7 at max doing minimal work

Z14 is enough for valorant, even 60fps on 3A maybe, needn`t better,AMD cpu will be better than Intel.maybe you need other addiational cooling like base fan if you not living in greenland...

Gaming laptop's are horrible for gaming.
Go for a normal gaming PC and buy a cheap laptop for uni. My laptop costs 300 euros and it's perfect for what I need

zephyrus g14 fits everything you said and is within budget, you can go for the 2023 or 2024 model but I personally don't think they're much different. the 4060 model can run valorant at 200+ but you could go higher if they're in your budget.

I know you already mentioned it but it's the perfect option 🗿lenovo slim 5 or 7 is also pretty good but I feel that it doesn't look as professional and costs more in my region. as for other laptops afaik these are pretty much the only laptops that are good for gaming and are light that are within that budget, MSI makes some but their build quality is horrible

You can also look at the zephyrus g16, its like the slim 7 but just with intel (the new ultra processors). The ones you listed the g14 and the slim 7 are both really nice.

try acer predator i5+4060 .it cost around 1300usd afaik...any i7+4060 is gonna go well above 1.7k. nitro 5 is also good but thermals are usually ineffective after a year of usage.

I have the 2023 Asus zephyrus g14 and the 14 in screen is far too small for gaming. I would recommend an external monitor if you wanted to game with it. Battery life is going to be roughly in the 7 hours range if you use it on a regular screen brightness at 60hz (up to 9-10 hours if you are afk the whole time but nobody ever is). Decent laptop for the money but I bought a surface pro and use that for schoolwork instead since I can handwrite notes on it. I only bought the g14 for engineering classes. If you are gaming on it a lot, then I would probably recommend getting a 4070 laptop but I personally have a pc so all I ever needed was a 4060 for light gaming on the go.

only for valorant and the occasional indie roguelike (mostly 2d) and some minor computational work. im wondering if i shud just get an ultra book that runs valorant well.
thankyou for the information. g14 shud be my first choice then.

you need to get a usb c to displayport cable which was annoying but other than that it worked nicely

ROG Zephyrus line-up fits the bill. I have a G14, fair thermals, silent, and good battery when not gaming. Gaming performance will depend on GPU selection.

Just buy a middle-of the-line PC for 1000 and a middle of the line laptop for 500. If you could build your own the correct way, you could probably get better specs in a desktop compared to if you got a prebuilt at the same price

right. I'm going to college in the fall and I already have a desktop, so I bought a laptop purely for education. It could probably run valorant if I wanted to, but it's not like I will
