In the NBA, there is something called the top 5 theory where if your team doesn’t have a clear top 5 player, you have zero chance of winning the finals. Boston sorta disproved it this yr without one, but they also had a super team. I was thinking and i think this theory also applies in valorant as no team without a top 5 player at the time has won a masters.
I need some thoughts

The skill difference between top players aren't very drastic in Valorant imo.
It's hard to confidently say who the top 5 players are as all that's required is for a player to change team, and boom. The guy went from arguably a top 30 players to a top 5 (Ofc it's not as simple as a team change but you get the idea). T3xture is a prime example of that.
His performance in GE wasn't terrible but he wasn't anything impressive. Now in GenG he's been performing crazy good and very consistently.

But I guess the theory does apply in a way that each winning team tends to have at least one player who performs insanely well. The ability to win points with clutch 1v3 situations or starting of a round with an instant pick or two.
Players like T3xture, Meteor, Aspas, Zekken, Leo, Derke, Chronicle, Demon1 and more.

I searched up the top 5 theory and your post is the first that showed up lol. Does this theory really exist? I mean it does make sense though.

I agree but...
Recently is the key word here. Same can be said for 2023 T3xture, 2023 Zekken, 2024 Demon1. More examples can easily be found. Top players that have fallen of. y0y is also a prime example.
The point is that they were crazy good in their time. They would've been considered a top 5 player back then.
