They are being updated manually whilst the map is ongoing, but when the map is finished, vlr website makes an API query call to some Riot server and parses the match report automatically to accurately update the kills, deaths and assists etc.
thats a lot of work whoever has to do this..
indeed just sitting their looking at fuck ton of matches together and updating everything man respect for the people who do it lol.
