The reason why the old Liquid was so good was that every player was talented and could compensate for each other's shortcomings. If you watch old matches, you will understand that sometimes when some players were not playing well, other teammates could bear the burden.

To be fair I think jampii is more consistent playing as initiation and not role swapping. Emil, I am yet to be convinced by, I haven't seen anything special strategically from any iteration of liquid since he joined.

Jampii carried this map and there was no one supporting him. If he had a ScreaM next to him, they would have won the match. It doesn't have to be ScreaM, maybe as far as I remember, when ScreaM was on the team, the page would receive either jampii or scream entries in most of the game.

Idealistic. Valorant skill ceiling isn't that high, and players peak early in this game, rarely getting much better than when they first reach tier1 level.

It just doesn't happen.

You have guys like demon1, alfajer that came from T2 teams where they just need a good team around them, and you see the immediate upgrade they bring.

Players in Valorant don't magically get better after a season.

So yeah, good structure and team play is a must. But not at the expense of raw skilled players that can have game changing moments.

All the top teams have players that can take over a map if needed.
