It's hard to fully blame EG this time

I mean, they should've known that paying 25k a month is outrageous but every other ORG is doing similar things so they had to and with the current state of the economy, I am not surprised they need to give the team pay cuts. It's a tough reality to face but you need to look outside of just NA, ORG's are not paying even somewhat close to what NA teams are paying (ignore Bleed, they just throw money at everyone). Despite that, I think EG executives should be looking to take pay cuts at times like these rather than forcing their players to take them JUST after they won Champs, the literal biggest event of the year. It's like a massive fuck you for their hard work over the past year, EG had their first ever fans in any video game thanks to these guys.

I do think EG are a scummy ORG with so many shady things like what is happening with their former League player (don't watch League so I'm not really that sure, just seen headlines) and they countless mistakes they make with their rosters in CS. Don't even mention the fuck ups they made at the start of franchising and the merch after they won Champs, but this time it is a mix of EG executives being greedy fucks and a combination of NA paying too much for players and the current economy not doing so hot.

edit: Seen BoDork tweet about publicly disclosed salaries and how it should be a thing now, not sure how much I agree with that but it could help with the current climate of NA Valorant

The problem is not the pay cut imo, is the contract jail if they buyouts are too high

I could see that being a thing and if it is, EG are back to being EG and are the scummiest ORG in franchising

Basically forcing them to either take the cut or be contract jailed. Wouldn't be surprised if some of the players are forced to take it, it's pretty late in the market and they are restricted

NA has to learn from Asia on "high effort work, low salary payment"

i actually kinda disagree; while of course the orgs should pursue sustainability instead of blind spending, it is also totally normal for all workers to demand a high salary for their work. especially after the players literally won the biggest international trophy in valorant. i would rather see the executives take a pay cut over the players any day of the week, even though i know that that's not going to happen.

the least that eg could do is have no buyouts for their players if they decide to play elsewhere.

also we have no idea what the players are getting paid in apac. i would imagine that salaries for the singaporean teams at least would be on par with what players are earning in emea. im not even talking about sscary, who is probably the highest paid player in the world right now.

Even though i still feel players should accept cut of 5k or 10k and try to stay together 15k a month for few years is more than enough to have settled life and retirement not to mention personal endorsements and streams

I don't care how scummy the org is but whole NA scenes needs regularize salaries of their players or else they are getting scammed bro I can't imagine how much C9 had to pay for yay

its crazy that the players of EG were crying after they got that super inflated salary, if you really wanted to stay together just accept the terms. it is what it is, but ofc, they are all greedy and expect to be paid more at other orgs.

The problem is that they might be the only team to be taking such severe cuts and watching everyone around you being paid double your salary is a fucked thing to see

nah everyone is getting salary cut from what i see from twitter except the guard players where it is a bidding war

Probably all getting pay cuts but EG might be the most drastic one right after they won Champs. Imagine going from the best team in the world to the lowest paid team in your region

o buddy trust me eg is fully to blame. they r like a really dysfunctional org. They somehow made their na prodigy in league danny malnourished so he had to be hospitalized and retire right after. They somehow have a dota 2 person taking them to court. If u just want a summary of the eg org, just read this and scroll to the bottom https://www.hltv.org/news/35682/naf-on-eg-liquid-is-light-years-ahead-of-this-organisation
