Riot has announced that Champions 2023's matches for Aug. 20 will be played without a live audience due to severe weather in the Los Angeles area.
Hurricane Hilary's landfall is expected to cause "dangerous to catastrophic flooding" across southern California over the next couple of days, according to the U.S. National Weather Service.
Currently, Riot anticipates the two lower quarterfinal matches planned for Sunday will be broadcast as scheduled. If nothing changes,

The two matches will eliminate one team each, cutting the field down to just four teams before a scheduled three-day break in the action. Those final four teams will then play out the final matches of the tournament between Thursday, Aug. 24 and Saturday, Aug. 26 to determine which team will earn the Champions 2023 trophy.
Riot says ticket holders for the pair of matches scheduled for Aug. 20 will receive a refund via email in the morning.
