Group D rankings

Here are my rankings for group D and my reasoning behind each one

  1. Team Liquid: No explanation needed here, they arent struggling with anything in particular unlike every other team here, should be a free pass to playoffs

  2. DRX: Out of the 3 teams that have struggled recently, DRX have the problems that are the easiest to fix, the first of which being their 6 man system. It really doesnt work and they should just stick to the OG starting 5 of Zest, BuZz, MaKo, rb, and stax. Their second problem is weak mentality, which has gotten better but is still an issue as proven by an interview following their Tokyo result. However, I am inclined to believe that they have already dealt with this because of the amount of time thats passed between Masters and Champs.

  3. NaVi: This team has perhaps the most issues of the teams and it does not seem to be getting any better. One glaring issue that NaVi have is cNed's inability to play agents that are not Jett, there are more solutions to this issue than I care to list but none of them can take place until after Champs so it will continue to plague NaVi for the time being. The second issue with this team is ANGE1 cooking up weird comps that make no sense unlike the first issue, this is quite an easy fix, d00mbr0s just needs to grow a pair of balls and tell ANGE1 to stop trolling comps. The final issue with this team is not one I see many talking about and it's the meta leaning away from KAY/O and into Skye. This is just quite unlucky tbh, there are some solutions to this but they take a lot of time and thus will be affecting NaVi's chances at making a run for the foreseeable future.

  4. LOUD: This team only has one issue, but it is by far the worst of all and it has the greatest effect. LOUD's issue is internal problems. There seems to be a ton of issues regarding aspas and the org as well as Less seemingly having his own issues. This is extremely bad for them seeing as they are LOUD's best 2 players by far and the fact that aspas was reportedly not scrimming with them and already receiving offers from other teams is a huge red flag and suggests nightmarish things to come at Champs.

In conclusion, who qualifies from Group D will boil down to which team has the least pressing issues and in my opinion, that is Team Liquid and DRX. Thanks for reading my essay guys and be sure to leave any feedback in the comments. Group A, B, C soon maybe??

also for LOUD, their issue at Tokyo was Aspas was rarely on Jett + He only op for 1 round as well.

To me it still feels like DRX are the worst team in their group, but yes, people don't talk enough about the meta switching from kayo to skye (zyppan is a decent Skye as well though)

Tbf though. The Meta is switching away from Jett.

FNC did not play Jett once in the tournament.
Raze has been played more than Jett in 2 LCQs out of 3.

They don't need to drop anyone, the players are not the problem. Zyppan was inconsistent but played great. Shao and suygetsu are still world class.
Ange1 is trolling but there aren't many better IGLs. cNed could be the only option (to get more flexibility for the team), but even there, it's tough to find a good replacement (only one I can think could be Jemkin, but is he really better then cNed?).

jemkin is not better than cmid but everything is the issue atm in navi

this core isn't winning again but they also can't drop them

being the 5th best team in EMEA is embarrassing for navi there is definitely several issues

no reasonable changes I can see however

not much of a sample size there tbf seeing as they played a grand total of 3 maps at that event, 2 of which Neon is super viable on so I didnt wanna count that

if hypothetically NaVi wanted to go down that route, tomaszy would also be a great option for a cNed replacement and iirc Shao was IGLing and doing it well when ANGE1 was away from the team for a brief period so maybe they could try that again? If not then baddyG would also be quite good as a replacement for ANGE1 seeing as he's done it before and also has experience IGLing iirc

Aspas is one of, if not the best jett player in the world, taking him off jett even if she’s not meta seems like a massive throw. And she’s not even terrible, ppl moved off Jett bc they realized they could put their awper on chamber, and their flex players could play raze or sum.
