Alright hear me out. When comparing the regions right now, nobody bothers taking FNATIC into consideration because they seem to be clearly above every other team. But when you take one regions top team out of consideration you have to do so with the other region as well. So i wont get into EGs performance and lets take a look at what we are left with. There is Loud that got send out even quicker than NaVi and FUT and there is NRG, who made it pretty far tbh. But they still dropped maps vs EMEA and pacific teams and they even needed an absolute throw from liquid to take the match. Im not saying they dont deserve their spot but there was no big gap between them and the teams they beat. So this whole Americas is so much better thing is straight up copium for now at least.
Mmmmmm fair point but I still disagree.
We're not taking FNC out and comparing to the others just because it's convenient. We do so, because FNC is clearly too much better, not only better than EMEA, but better than every team in every region.
And we're not taking the others top1 bc the other leagues top1 are closer to top 2, 3 etc.
I understand that TL beating FNC on EMEA grandfinals is a strong argument against the "EMEA is a 1 team region" narrative, but the narrative doesn't come from FNC being better alone. It comes from how each franchise happened in parallel.
VCT Americas was much more twisted and crazy (which doesn't make VCT EMEA not crazy, I'm just saying Americas was more).
So, what I'm trying to point out here is that Americas is much more homogeneous, while EMEA looks waaaaaaaaaaaay more heterogeneous. And this homogeneity in Americas makes it look like there's a blurry cloud of Americas teams in a position that seems to be slightly better than EMEA's heterogeneous teams.
It is as if it were like
- FNATIC
- blurry cloud of 4~5 Americas teams + TL
- all the rest of EMEA
