I don’t think theres anything I could put at the top of this article about RRQ that hasn’t been said already
ORG OVERVIEW
-Rex Regum Qeon, frequently abbreviated to RRQ, is an Indonesian esports organization that was founded in 2013.
-The organization currently competes in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Free Fire, PUBGM, Valorant, LoL Wild Rift, Sausage Man (?), and FIFA. They got their start in Dota 2, which they exited in 2019
-RRQ is owned by Adrian Pauline, and has a slew of sponsorship deals from ASUS ROG to Haus! Indonesia
-RRQ is also the sole representative of Indonesia in the pacific league.
ROSTER HISTORY
2020
-RRQ entered Valorant in late 2020, right ahead of First Strike. They would enter with a fully indonesian roster, consisting of
-frostyminty
-NextJacks
-taLenT7
-f1re
-KingLeo
-The roster would fall in the quarterfinals of Indonesia’s first strike to Morph Impact
2021
-RRQ would add some substitutes to their roster but retain the core 5 they had in first strike, looking for success in the 2021 VCT inaugural season
-Unfortunately, the team would not make it out of the open qualifier for the first two challenger splits, prompting roster moves
-f1re and KingLeo would both depart, and be replaced by adrnking and xyNe. With this roster, RRQ would see success in the final indonesian qualifier of the year, but fell short to Boom in the Grand Finals, ending their VCT season early
-At the end of 2021, RRQ would release their entire roster, making their future in Valorant uncertain.
2022
-RRQ missed the first challengers split of the year, but came into the second split with an all new filipino roster. Some were critical of the decision as an Indonesian organization, but quickly realized this new roster was more competitive.
-This new PH roster was:
-Draxii
-2ge
-kellyS
-Rabbet
-Nexi
-The new squad would have podium finishes in non-VCT events before entering the stage 2 challengers split
-They would make it into the group stage and finish with a 4-3 record as the second seed, earning a spot in the APAC Challengers playoffs, with a spot in copenhagen on the line
-The squad would make it past play-ins, but would fall in the group stage with losses to Xerxia and Alter Ego. Due to their late entry and relatively low placement, RRQ would not attend LCQ and their VCT season ended in June
CONTROVERSY AFTER ACCEPTANCE TO PARTNERSHIP
-After being accepted into the Pacific league as the only Indonesian team, RRQ chose to retain their entirely Filipino roster going into 2023. Many were skeptical about the decision, with many Indonesian teams with strong talent like Boom putting their players up for sale.
-A report by Ominous said a specific organization was leveraging the lack of contract agents to put players in long, locked contracts. It was not specified but heavily alluded to that this org was RRQ
-Another report later on said Riot was taking action against a team that was abusing resources provided by the partnership program to put players in unfair contracts (also thought to be RRQ)
-Shortly after these reports became public, RRQ began to overhaul their roster
ROSTER MOVES AND 2023
-RRQ started by bring in tehbotoL from Boom and EJAY from Bren. They later added fl1pzjder also from Boom, and Lmemore from ONIC G.
-They’ve also bolstered their coaching staff with head coach Ewok, and analyst yb.
-Assuming no further moves are made, RRQ in Sao Paolo will be:
-tehbotoL
-2ge
-EJAY
-Lmemore
-fl1pzjder
-Emman
