Why is it on christmas?
ChromeDZN [#4]Im asking cuz i feel bad for the players
it’s an asian tournament, most of the teams are from japan- so except for fnatic, there probably aren’t any christians
Sushi_ [#6]Im not sure but i dont think Christmas/Christianity is particularly popular in east asia, sucks for fnatic though :(
They had a choice to reject invite right?
33AJ [#8]They had a choice to reject invite right?
thats true, though its probably the org manager who made the choice not the players, if the games are early and they immediately fly back they might be able to get home midday. Though tbf we also don't know for sure the fnatic players celebrate christmas.

according to wikipedia, christianity is pretty common in South Korea (~27%) but not in any other east asian country (<4% each)

So do they not celebrate the holiday at all? I know that aren't Christians that celebrate but idk about Japanese culture

From what I can tell Christmas is celebrated in east Asia, but is less of a religious thing and more of just a big fun holiday. It seems to be taken a bit more seriously in south Korea which has a notable Christian population, but still isnt nearly as important as in the west. It seems like it would be a bummer to miss as a korean or japanese, but unless your Christian, is more like missing Halloween than Christmas.

i swear half the people that celebrate christmas aren't christian. it's a very popular holiday
