I need the story catered to me with motion, direction, and sound. If I was younger with more imagination then yeah I would probably prefer manga. Also I'm still reading, it's not like I'm watching a trash dub.
Some chapters can have character development for some character you just don't care about or just boring dialogue, I don't blame him for skipping to the action/actual interesting plot points.
