can we agree that this take is horrible and egregious?
EDIT: SHIT MEANT OFF TOPIC MODS CHANGE PLS
Sushi_ [#3]The popular artists define what is good in that genre, even if you dont like it people listen to them for a reason. Also who tf are any of the ppl he named lmao?
idc if they are popular or not, they both make amazing music
the rappers he mentioned are apart of a sub-genre in rap called trap. they have a specific style of music which isn't lyrical and is mainly focused about how the music sounds and not what it means. even then, most of their music isn't great.

fair enough, i dont particularly like either of them, but they are absolutely good rappers. Is trap as a genre good and the artist named not? or does trap as a whole suck?

personally, i think chief keef is one of the better trap artists, but trap as a whole is such a weird genre nowadays because of the influx of rappers. this caused the mid tier and low tier rappers to get filled up and they all constantly drop music that is fairly mediocre. at the same time, premier trap artists, playboi carti and travis scott to name a few, haven't dropped new music in a while. so slowly, the cloudy and confuddled genre of trap is dying.
capital_d_colon [#6]Crazy good troll maybe. But the last line throws me off
he's talking about some of the content in kendrick's music.
it's funny since the main topics that the rappers he mentioned talk about are s3x, money, murder, and drugs.

trap is very very far from dying, the underground scene is blossoming and it basically has changed mainstream music sonically

that's what it's done, not what it's doing. sure the underground scene may be blossoming (which is what i addressed) but the mainstream isn't and that's the most important thing in keeping a genre alive.

only a matter of time before the new generation of trap artists take over
