Simply put, they either got outplayed and outgunned or they weren't able to keep momentum enough in crucial moments. Teams like Loud, Optic, and DRX were all able to adapt in those crucial moments that would have had their fates sealed otherwise. Key players were able to step up in the clutch when needed and pull off some crazy upsets, it happens all the time in both e-sports and physical sports. While last year was very much a 50/50 mix of NA and EMEA success, this year it was much more NA/BR with EMEA trying to keep up. Having watched both Masters splits for NA and EMEA, I really didn't feel like a majority of the EMEA teams appeared "complete" whereas there was a more clear representation of that in NA.
