cuz many people say the word “Bahasa” as if they were saying ‘the Indonesian Language”. They are wrong! Yes, “Bahasa” means “language” in Indonesian. Non-Indonesians say this often from ignorance. However, I think also it has become shorthand for Indonesian. “Bahasa Indonesian” means literally “Indonesian Language”, so that is how they say it here
