in my view the main benefit of the lower bracket isnt so you find the best team more consistently, since the best team likely already won the upper bracket. its more for the middle of the pack teams who could place 2nd-4th with a lower bracket, but might just get unlucky and pull the best team instantly, also weakening the future games in the event (grand final could be 1st vs 4th best rather than 1st vs 2nd)
for example in toronto the grand final could have been prx vs wolves without lower bracket, but the winner doesnt change, only the order of losers.
this is good for creating a more competitive event (with a stronger final), and fairly distributing prize money, but is almost irrelevant in deciding the winner
i see people saying ewc is mickey for not having one, but it shouldnt make the winner less respected
frr.. prx didnt need it at toronto so why would anyone need it here?
