Look up the pomodoro technique, the small breaks in between your study helps renew your energy, stay focused, and retain more information. it's proven to be an effective time management technique. You're first option minimizes breaks thus overworking yourself resulting in loss of focus and lower quality work. It's significantly ineffective.
